Furano is located in the geographical centre of Hokkaido and has excellent travel links. Here is our guide on getting here.

 

Flights

• Sapporo International Airport - Around 2 hours from Furano, with direct and indirect flights from many global locations.

• Asahikawa Airport - This small and functional airport has direct flights from Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Taiwan.

Bus Transfers

• From Sapporo Airport - There are 6 buses/day to Furano with Hokkaido Resort Liner.

• From Asahikawa Airport - The Lavender Bus has a scheduled which depart around 8 times a day. The journey time is 1 hour. This service is not pre bookable and cost ¥790 at the time of writing.

• From Niseko - There are 4 buses/day from Niseko to Furano with Hokkaido Resort Liner (via Sapporo airport).

Car Hire

We believe renting a car is the way to go in Hokkaido, driving in Japan is very civilised and roads are generally quiet. Renting a car will give you the freedom to make the most out of your trip. There are car hire locations at Sapporo & Asahikawa airports as well as in central Furano. Drivers from most countries will require an international driving permit. Please be aware that all roads in Hokkaido will be coated in snow and ice in winter, however all rental vehicles have snow tyres as standard as it is law in Hokkaido. Toyota Rent a Car is located adjacent to the station.
